It was 2019, I was coming back home from college for the summer, I was hanging out with my cousins, and he showed up! The minute I saw him, I knew
How was the proposal? We want all the details!
It was absolutely amazing, we were getting ready to go to our friends' beach house for the weekend, as we’re getting ready, he tells me, “You should wear a dress”. We were going to dinner with them first, so I was like “aww yes let’s get all dressed up”. I am such a stickler for time, so I’m rushing to get our bags in the car, and he had gone to my mom's house across the street to use their shower. When I came over, I tried opening the door, and they shut it immediately! I was like What’s going on? We have to leave! LOL! Little did I know my family members were standing behind the door, each holding a flower, and at the end of them was Jabari inside a heart-shaped candlelight on the floor. He took me in, said all the right things, and proposed. He was planning this for months and hid the ring for longer! He didn’t know the right time, but when my sister came down from Ohio after not seeing her for 6 years, he knew it was now, when everyone could be there.
Did you have your wedding planned out since you were a little girl?
The details were always changing for my wedding planning, colors, etc., but I always knew I wanted the whole sha-bang! I also wanted it to be a dream day. I was scared it wouldn’t be, but my oh my, it definitely was.
How did you find the Hidden Gem of Gruene?
I found it searching online, Texas greenery wedding venues! LOL!
With so many beautiful wedding venues to choose from, what attracted you to the Hidden Gem?
I always knew I wanted an outdoor ceremony site with lots of greenery, trees, and beautiful views. I also wanted the same vibe for the inside, just for weather accommodation. I checked out a few other venues for the wedding, but after viewing the Hidden Gem, I knew that venue was perfect, not only from how stunning it is inside and out, but also how the staff felt like family, like they were there for us from day one and even till today.
Who were your favorite vendors to work with?
All of my vendors were perfect! They were welcoming, accommodating, and helpful throughout the process and the day of! We had Rabels Roadhaus BBQ, which we still get compliments on to this day on how delicious their brisket is! Our photographer, Chelsea, with CMHstudios that absolutely captured the love we have, and we will keep her forever! Whiskey River bartending gave the most welcoming service the entire night! They had drink orders going so quickly! We had a Caketini bar, and that was the most unique of them all. Cake flavors galore to choose from, a personal cake to cut for the bride and groom, absolutely wonderful! Team One Luxury Planning, who took care of us from day one to make sure the day was perfect! Sean Austin Art, who painted all my guests so uniquely and beautifully, they were so happy to take home those keepsakes. My makeup artist, Suzanne Syrek, and Hair stylist Lotus Beauty, who had me and all my girls looking STUNNING the entire day! And last but not least, At last Entertainment, who saved the day for us when we had to find a new DJ literally the day before! Johnny from At Last Entertainment was seriously so good! No one left the dance floor the whole night, and I’ve got to say it was the most fun I’ve ever had!
What did you love the most about the Hidden Gem of Gruene?
I loved the inside and outside ceremony sites; it was a calm feeling to know I’d have beauty regardless of the weather!
Did you stay at our on-site lodging? If so, what did you think about it?
Yes! It was so comfortable, I had the best sleep before the big day, and it was definitely needed! The bathroom was spacious, as well as the living room area.
What was the Best moment that you will always remember from your wedding?
My best moment would have to be when my now husband picked me up and spun me around the dance floor; it was a dream!
What is one piece of advice that you would give a future bride when booking a venue?
Make sure the area is for you! There are so many things to consider, just always trust yourself because at the end of the day, this is the place you’ll always keep close to your heart and where your love was commenced.
